Meet the Crew

We’re proud to have a well-rounded, dedicated team that includes various interesting backgrounds as well professionals who have perfected their skills and standards of excellence in the landscape maintenance field ever since they first started cutting lawns as kids.

Willow Fliginger

Owner Willow Fliginger has a wide scope of duties at Doctor Lawn that in many ways mirrors her varied educational background. She graduated from C.M. Russell High School in 1995, and then earned a degree in psychology from the University of Montana Western in Dillon, graduating at the top of her class. She also studied law at the University of Montana in Missoula. No doubt it all comes in handy as our office manager who juggles customer relations, billing, scheduling crews, and pretty much anything else, including mowing.

Jeff Fliginger

For owner and founder Jeff Fliginger, mowing lawns as a young man meant more than just earning a little extra cash. It was the start of a lifelong educational and career passion. Even while still in high school, he took his dedication to excellent lawn care and customer service to a new level — he expanded his business from Belt into Great Falls, setting the stage for what would become a large and thriving company. In 1998 he graduated from Belt Valley High School and began working on a degree in Horticulture and Landscape Design from Montana State University in Bozeman, graduating in 2002. Jeff’s a hands-on manager who remains involved in every aspect of the business.

Russ Bates

A native of Great Falls, Russ has been working in the industry for 34 years, first learning the landscaping trade, and then running his own business for a number of years. He then worked for and eventually oversaw the grounds maintenance program on the Malmstrom Air Force Base for almost a decade. As a member of Doctor Lawn’s top management, Russ brings years of experience in tree and plant care, disease recognition, turf care, and landscape design to each project. But although impressive, his experience is not what sets him apart from most — instead, he stands out because of his true passion for plants and trees. He loves working with them! His genuine enthusiasm combined with an interest-based knowledge makes him a valuable asset to our team, as well as our customers. If you have a horticultural question, Russ will most likely have the answer.

Jon Tobin

Jon is the member of the Doctor Lawn team with the most hands-on experience in the industry. Throughout his 15+ years in the field, he has managed to hone his skills and develop a deep-rooted knowledge of all departments. He is exceptionally proficient across all aspects of landscaping from the basics of mowing and snow removal to the fundamentals of sprinkler work, fertilizer/pesticide application and the pruning of shrubbery. His love of the job, thoughtful approach, versatility, and attention to detail help set Doctor Lawn Landscape Management apart. Not only a crew supervisor for mowing, Jon’s role has developed into leadership in all facets from work in the field, to knowledge of all equipment, to shop related matters. With his wide range of abilities, he can jump in wherever needed and take care of business.

Travis Helmey

Though he’s been with us just since 2013, Tree Specialist Travis Helmey got his start long before. His father was a tree care pro in Billings who started taking 14-year-old Travis along to work “to keep me out of trouble,” then later hired him as a full-time employee. Travis developed not only a great deal of tree knowledge and skill over the years, but has a real affinity for customer service – in fact, his customer satisfaction rating is a solid 100 percent. He says he still feels a strong connection to his dad through the skills he practices, and we suspect, that dedication to a job well done.

Greg Staley

As the one-man operator of our new Kalispell branch, Greg Staley necessarily has to do it all, from mowing and plowing to fixing and maintaining equipment to managing new accounts. His work background includes 30 years in construction, 7 years on oil rigs, a few years in metal fabrication, plus lending a hand at Doctor Lawn over the years since we started, so Greg’s good at everything and was the perfect choice for this new opportunity. Though he’s always lived in Great Falls till now, those in Kalispell will know him when they see him – he’s constantly got his dogs with him wherever he goes, a border collie/Australian shepherd cross and a sheltie. He’s also often spotted his Harley or whitewater rafting.

Derek Doughty

Derek has been referred to as “the trifecta” for his triple-power skills: he’s assistant mechanic on the entire fleet and all equipment; he is certified in Stihl power equipment and serves as primary mechanic on all the small-engine equipment such as mowers, trimmers, chainsaws and the like; and he’s a landscape enhancement expert. Another Great Falls native, Derek picked up experience in this field working for the City of Great Falls. He says he likes the variety of his job, where on any given day he might be addressing a wide range of mechanical issues, handling fertilization or sprinkler systems, or even plowing snow. Off hours, you might find him at the hockey rink or out trap shooting.
